From The Master-of-Nets Garden

Suzhou is well known for its beautiful gardens. There is a saying that the “gardens in the South of the Yangtze River are the finest under heaven, and Suzhou garden is peerless among them”. As one of the gardens that has the longest history in Suzhou is called The Master-of-Nets Garden. It was first constructed in the Southern Song Dynasty around 1140. During the dynasties after this time, the garden experienced a decline in prosperity and fell into ruin. The gardens previous glory was evident only in the verdant ancient trees which remained. I have developed an evocation of this lost space through contemporary gaming technology. My interpretation of the aesthetics of this classical garden aims to bring to life an experience of this elegant historic place in a mode that is relevant to the present era.
